U.S. News released a list of the "Best Cities in the World to Visit for 2025" highlighting 30 bucket list destinations from across the globe.
If you’re dreaming of travel in 2025, a charming destination close to Montreal might be the perfect spot to explore. With its cobblestone streets, abundant cafes, and stunning attractions, Quebec City offers an experience that feels like stepping into a distant European getaway.
A recent list of the "Best Cities in the World to Visit for 2025" highlighted 30 must-see destinations worldwide. The selections were based on cultural attractions, dining experiences, natural beauty, entertainment options, and reader votes. Among these, Quebec City earned the 30th spot and was the only Canadian destination to make the list.
Located less than three hours from Montreal, Quebec City is celebrated for its old-world charm. Visitors can immerse themselves in sights of winding cobblestone streets, towering cathedrals, and the aroma of fresh-baked bread and cheese. U.S. News described it as a sensory delight with “the sound of French pleasantries and tourists' 'Oohs,'” and the taste of buttery croissants and creamy lattes.
Key attractions include the stunning Montmorency Falls, the historic Château Frontenac, the scenic Dufferin Terrace, and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. A standout feature of the city is Old Quebec, which feels like a scene from a European painting with its 18th- and 19th-century architecture housing bakeries, bistros, and boutiques amidst lively cobbled squares.
The best times to visit are June through September, when festivals and warm weather make the city vibrant, and December through February, when Quebec City transforms into a winter wonderland. Winter activities include snow tubing and a visit to the iconic Hôtel de Glace.
Quebec City was also named the second-best travel destination in Canada for 2025, following Banff, which took the top spot.
