Peel Regional Police arrested four men and seized multiple firearms during a traffic stop in Mississauga on December 4, shortly after 4:00 a.m.
The vehicle was initially stopped to question the driver, 22-year-old Justin Salmon of Brampton, who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant. Salmon was taken into custody and now faces five charges, including driving without a licence and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
During the investigation, officers discovered two illegal handguns, one of which was reportedly loaded and concealed on a passenger. The seized firearms were identified as illegal 9mm Glock 19 handguns. Police stated that one of the guns was equipped with an extended magazine containing 30 rounds of ammunition, while the other had been modified to fire automatically.
In addition to Salmon, police arrested 22-year-old Adrian Gregory of Brampton, 23-year-old Kerrick Campbell-Reid of Ridgeway, and 22-year-old Benjamin Jaramillo of Thornhill. Gregory and Campbell-Reid face multiple charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, while Jaramillo faces a charge for occupying a vehicle while knowing a firearm was present.
Deputy Chief of Police Marc Andrews praised the officers involved, stating, “This is a prime example of the importance of proactive police work and the impact it has on our community’s safety. Thanks to these patrol officers, two illegal firearms are out of the hands of criminals and cannot be used to victimize members of our community. A job well done!”
