Trudeau steps into the boxing ring with Olympian Wyatt Sanford
Nova Scotia MP Kody Blois who was also at the gym described the PM as 'tough and crafty' with 'a long reach'
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau engaged in a friendly sparring match with Nova Scotia Olympic boxer Wyatt Sanford in Dartmouth, N.S.
Trudeau donned his gloves for a session with Sanford, known as the Kennetcook Kid, at the Tribal Boxing Club. Sanford, 25, recently earned a bronze medal in boxing at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Kings-Hants MP Kody Blois and boxing club owner Jim Maloney also took part in the event.
“I had never stepped into a boxing ring before, but the chance to spar with an Olympian and the Prime Minister was too good to pass up,” Blois shared in a Facebook post.
“Wyatt landed a punch right on my nose, and the three minutes felt like three hours! The PM is quite skilled with his boxing background, but I managed to keep up, and we both had some solid exchanges.”
“Thanks to Wyatt for all his hard work and for inspiring us all.”
