Two More Charged in Connection with Murder of Cryptocurrency Influencer Kevin Mirshahi

Quebec provincial police have announced that two additional individuals have been charged in relation to the death of cryptocurrency influencer Kevin Mirshahi. His remains were discovered last month in a Montreal park, nearly four months after he was kidnapped along with three others from his Old Montreal condo on June 21.

While the three other kidnapping victims—two women and one man—were found alive the following day, Mirshahi, 25, remained missing until his body was found.

On Tuesday, police confirmed that Darius Perry, 27, from Châteauguay, and Nackael Hickey, 26, from Montreal, are facing charges, including forcible confinement and being accessories after the fact to murder. They are scheduled to appear in court in Valleyfield, Quebec.

Previously, on August 22, Joanie Lepage, 32, from Les Cèdres, Quebec, was charged with first-degree murder, forcible confinement, and being an accessory after the fact to murder.

In addition to his tragic death, Mirshahi had been under investigation by Quebec’s financial regulator, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF). In 2021, the AMF sought a legal order to prohibit him, two others, and a company from engaging in activities regulated by the provincial Securities Act.

An administrative tribunal later ruled that the individuals involved, including Mirshahi, were banned from activities such as investment advising and promotion of specific cryptocurrencies, particularly through social media platforms. Mirshahi was known for running a private, paid Telegram group called Crypto Paradise Island.
