Various breads and buns recalled due to pieces of metal: CFIA
The 37 products were sold in three provinces: Ontario, Quebec, N.L.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled several brands of bread and buns after detecting pieces of metal in the products. The recalled items were distributed in Ontario, Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
A total of 37 products have been affected, including items from Country Harvest, D'Italiano, Great Value, No Name, and Wonder. The complete list of recalled products is available on the CFIA’s website.
The recall notice indicates that Wonder Brands Inc. is the recalling company, and consumers are advised not to eat or sell any of the impacted items.
CFIA’s notice, issued on Monday, didn’t specify how many products were sold. It also referenced a related recall by Compass Minerals Canada Corp., which is recalling two bulk salt products due to metal contamination.
This recall follows a voluntary action by Giant Tiger, which removed 15 Wonder Brands Inc. products from its shelves over concerns about foreign material. Additionally, Costco issued a recall on October 29 for specific Wonder Brands Inc. products bought in Ontario between October 24 and 25, stating that this was due to a recall initiated by Compass Minerals, which supplies the salt used in these products.
Both Giant Tiger and Costco have stated that customers can return the recalled items to their stores for a full refund.
