Vehicle set on fire in downtown Montreal

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating an incident involving a vehicle set ablaze early Friday morning in downtown Montreal.
Authorities received a 911 call at 2:30 a.m. about a fire in a parking lot on Lespérance Street near Ontario Street.
"Firefighters were called to the scene," said Véronique Dubuc, a spokesperson for Montreal police. "They quickly brought the fire under control."
The vehicle was completely destroyed in the fire, but no damage was reported to nearby properties.
"According to preliminary information that police officers have, a suspect was observed near the vehicle when the fire broke out," added Dubuc. "He fled on foot before police arrived."
No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
