Weapons charges laid in Highway 401 ‘road rage’ incident near Prescott
A handgun was located inside the vehicle, which was later determined to be an air pistol.
Two people are facing charges after what police are calling an incident of road rage on Highway 401 near Prescott.
Members of the Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the eastbound lanes around 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25.
A driver had reported that the occupant of another vehicle had flashed a handgun at them.
Officers quickly located the vehicle as it continued northbound onto Highway 416, where a high-risk traffic stop was conducted.
A handgun was located inside the vehicle, which was later determined to be an air pistol.
As a result of the investigation, Kabir Mander, 18, of Brampton and Prathamdeep Joshi, 20, of Caledon, each face a charge of possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Both accused were later released from custody and are set to appear in court in Brockville on November 22, 2024.
