Ottawa Provincial Police (OPP) had a busy few days on Ottawa highways.
On Monday, September 16, at around 2 a.m., Ottawa OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 417 after a vehicle was observed driving erratically near Maitland Avenue.
Upon speaking with the driver, officers detected a strong smell of alcohol. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested for impaired driving.
Later, just before 11 p.m., police stopped another driver on Highway 417 near Moodie Drive for speeding. The driver, who held a G2 licence, was also found to be impaired by alcohol.
In a separate incident, OPP officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 416 near Hunt Club Road. It was determined that one of the drivers had been drinking and refused to provide a breath sample.
Both drivers involved in the collision were charged, each received a 90-day driving suspension, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.
All three individuals arrested are scheduled to appear in court in October.
