A woman who was 47 years old was discovered dead in a residence in rural west Ottawa on Sunday evening.

Ottawa police were summoned to the residence on Lady Slipper Way, located west of Stittsville, at approximately 6:40 p.m. where they reportedly discovered the woman.

Ottawa paramedics reported that she suffered severe injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

Police sources who spoke to CBC expect her husband to be charged in her death.

CBC is in the process of verifying their identities.

Mary Lovas, a resident of the same street, described them as very pleasant and friendly individuals. "Each time you passed by, we would talk and greet each other."

Despite not being very familiar with the woman, Lovas mentioned that her family owns two dogs, one of which is a puppy. She also noted that the woman's husband would bring the puppy over to her house for playdates with their dog.

Lovas described the murder as surprising.

The homicide unit of the Ottawa police is conducting an investigation.
