Police found woman's body on Thursday, man appeared in court on Friday
Quebec provincial police have confirmed that the body discovered in a town near the U.S. border on Thursday belongs to a 29-year-old woman who was reported missing.
The woman had been missing from Hemmingford since last Saturday.
Search teams from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) found a woman's body in the area where they had been searching and initially stated that more time was needed to confirm the identity. On the same day, the SQ announced the arrest of a man in connection with the disappearance.
The SQ has now officially identified the body as that of the missing woman.
On Friday, a 31-year-old man appeared in Valleyfield court and was charged with committing an indignity to a human body.
